Pit your wits against other teams in this fun evening of teasing questions and friendly competition. Refresh yourselves at the well-stocked bar and snack on the selection of crackers and cheeses - included (with coffee) in the ticket price of £5. Prizes awarded to the winning teams.

An evening of elegant dining in convivial surroundings. What better way to start the week-end than by inviting a guest to dinner in our friendly club, and listening to entertaining after-dinner speakers? With the gourmet menu, complemented by club prices at the bar, this evening also offers excellent value for money. Ticket Price only £20 (incl. vat). Dress: Formal, Lounge suits or National dress.

LADIES SOCIAL EVENING

The first social evening in the ladies calendar. Lady-members only but both golfing and house members are encouraged to come along. This is a well-attended evening giving a great opportunity to socialise with the very hospitable ladies at Merchants. WINE TASTING

Wednesday 29th March

at 7.30pm

A naughty little soiree with an alcoholic bouquet and subtle hints of Bacchus! This very relaxed and informal evening offers you a generous taste of a selection of wines, and the chance to engage in friendly, and enjoyable competition with other teams. Biscuits, and a selection of cheeses, is included in the ticket price of £6.50.

RACE NIGHT

Friday 21st April

at 7.30pm

All the thrills and enjoyment of a day at the races without leaving the comfort of the clubhouse! Choose your runners in any of eight filmed races, place your bets, and watch your chosen horse gallop for the finish. Or, buy a horse in advance (£3) and, if it wins a race, collect a cash prize! A fun horse-racing night with forecast betting (£1), cash winnings, stand-up bingo, and an optional supper. Race card £5 - with tote tickets for a 50p bet. Supper £5, bookable on the night.

CEILIDH

Saturday 20th May

at 8pm

A stirring evening of traditional Scottish Country Dancing. All the old favourite reels and strathspeys, and some new ones too. With an accordion-playing compere and dance caller, optional supper, and the irresistible rhythms of Scottish music, this is an evening of pure kilt-swinging, foot-tapping pleasure. Tickets £5.

MIDSUMMER FAMILY

Fun for all - an enjoyable barbeque on the terrace complemented by refreshing drinks from the bar. A summer evening of face-painting, beat-the-goalie, a putting competition, a pool competition and Raymondo Bongo providing magic and music to suit all age groups. A great family social event. CASINO NIGHT

Friday 8th September

at 7.30pm

If you've ever wanted to try a little gambling, this social event is for you. All the fun of the casino in the friendly environment of the club. Professional croupiers and an assortment of tables makes this a fun night for all. Tickets £5, with the option of supper.

DANCE & CABARET

Saturday 14th October

at 8pm

This is traditionally a night of entertainment and dancing, with ice-breaking comedian Bert Allan followed by Glasgow Vocal Sensation Kevin McColl; who will provide the music and compere the dancing. Tickets £10, with the optional addition of a 2-course supper (pre-booking required).
